Playing the Blues at Tipitina, NOLA

We left the Wisconsin winter at its worst-freezing temperatures, fierce winds and snow to head south to NOLA. Yesterday just before sunset, we put on our warm-weather running clothes with the intention of a jog at Audubon Park. I brought along my camera to photograph some swans I had seen at the Park earlier in the week. Driving along Tchoupitoulas Street, however, I heard a band-a marching band! and saw a group of people assembling in the street outside Tipitinas, a music hall. I literally jumped out of the car to join the fun. Coming from the cold Midwest, nothing says spring to me like an outdoor gathering to hear music, enjoy good food while wearing a t-shirt and jeans instead of a winter coat. The Landry-Walker High School Marching Band was incredible. The tribute honored Jimmy Glickman, well-known in the NOLA music scene for his music store and generous sponsorships and assistance to aspiring musicians. Weekly Photo Challenge-Seasons
